Anecdotal, but this has largely not been my experience. What I've seen is that Americans tend to be more self-directed and willing to question/bend rules to get stuff done which often provides the je ne sais quoi needed to make stuff happen. On the flip side, I've noticed that foreign workers tend to care more about hierarchy and following the rules as written

I'm in Chile visiting family right now and I've noticed that same vibe here too. Customer service is ass because people defer to bureaucracy to justify their inability to help

This also goes against what I've heard in terms of US vs European culture, where the prevailing thought is that Americans work harder (apologies to my /europoooooor friends)
