I would argue that we all want better... but companies worked out that better is not more profitable so now we don't even have the choice to choose durable or long-lasting.

The way many countries grew in power was to expand their consumer base. Production is THE metric of success and it follows consumption. All this to say our modern economies are all based on consumption. I’m against this personally, AND it seems that consumers choose cheap over good every time.
