who owns meta ray bans and how do you feel about them?

Have them. LOVE THEM. Cannot recommend them more enthusiastically and use them all the time. If you have any specific questions happy to answer.

My biggest question is how my personal data will (or will not) be stored by meta. Also can I use it without connecting it to meta services? Lastly, would you know about coverage re: international users.

You cannot use it without engaging w/Meta — you need their Meta View app to get your pics off the device and set it up, and by extension do need an account with them 

They store your info for some time I believe but not forever — honestly not sure 

You can buy Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in countries like the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia; essentially most major European countries and Australia.
