Even when it’s not explicitly a scam or a rug pull it’s just got a veneer of ick

I agree, but also, you'll agree that crypto has not always been like this. I mean, let's take a trip down the memory lane, back to 2016-17,18,19,20. From the ICO era, to the onset of DeFi etc. Before the era of Uniswap, dex launchpads/IDOs and the apparent existence of memecoins. 
Crypto has always been beautiful, what we believed to be a wealth redistribution platform. 

You know what happened? Evolution! 
crypto has evolved, not positively, but it has.
