What role does ETH mainnet play in this cycle? With so much attention being driven to L2s like @base it begs the question... are people ever going to use L1 again? Is that a bad thing if the answer is no? And what does that mean for ETH as a store of value? Discuss.

Mainnet is and was always supposed the be the settlement layer. L2s are the app / consumer layer. L3 is the optimization layer. Banks will be stoked to use mainet, consumers will use Base.

If banks get into crypto, I would think they'd either create their own blockchains or will create a layer 2 to offer their customers. To be honest, I don't think they will ever adopt eth...They will rely on the federal reserve to create the system and set the standards.

The banks outside "the banks" and all free nations will. ETH allows and nation state to create its own currency and token programmed however they want it to be. Evil CBDCs like what China is already doing and what America will do, won't be 100% of the worlds currency.

You're right, I was mainly referring to the west and European countries. They will do everything they can to subvert any pure movement that empowers the citizenry in a major way...especially if it gives economic independence from the system they've created....A reason why crypto is so important.
