Unblock Monday Describe a problem you're stuck with in a cast and I'll give you a cast-length suggestion (and may link to something else). Like everything in this channel, people should feel free to jump in. AUA (ask us anything), not AMA.

Have you approached them with more formal feedback? Hey X, are you open to some feedback? - If yes, when I hear you "yes but" I feel frustrated - In my head, I interpret that as meaning... - Thanks for listening

Yeah what other people said makes sense. If the but isn't stronger enough for him to do something about it then it doesn't matter. If he doesn't have enough conviction to do anything about it, why should anyone else? Improving strengths > fixing weaknesses. "Yes but" is for spectators (investors) not arena participants

Have you read the "One Minute Manager?" Short read; might provide helpful tips. My $0.02: When you get a "yes, but…" reply with an "Excellent, what's your plan to {overcome/deal with/address} the {insert 'but' item}." Anyone raising a concern without a perspective for a solution is just complaining. Call that out.

Check out the “accountability ladder”. Very good for helping people see the “but” is theirs to own.. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTiAPI3SQMawrGJKWjwck4_BW1lKIptXSNDCBF9uEiM4dMrGPR3V286atg&s=10
