My 11 yo has been watching videos about kidnap, suicide and a lap dancing hairdresser(!) on Snapchat and YouTube shorts. Any suggestions other than removing the apps entirely (she really likes them, and there is plenty of positive content she wants to watch, as well as chats with friends)?

I’d nudge her to be active on those platforms. Create her own content within boundaries you set (eg blurry face, not outside). Or things like weekly reports on what you watched a la news report. Removing them is a knee jerk reaction that only moves the problem
