I did use a shavette for a couple years before getting this! Believe it or not, I would always get nicked whereas with this I get a flawless, quick shave, every time

The reason is that disposable blades are too sharp - it's impossible to get a cutthroat that sharp with just a strop (unless you use a whetstone), so you can apply more pressuore or go over a spot more than once

Much more forgiving (counterintuitive maybe, but that is my experience)
