One of the things this site has going for it is that there's obvious and catchy verb that isn't riff on "tweet." The Bluesky people are calling their post a "skeet." Gross. "Cast," the other hand, is so good. It harkens to older analog media, like broadcasting. It also makes me think of fishing, as in casting a rod to see what bites. That also feels like an apt metaphor.

Good point. I love describing what I do here as "casting," for exactly the reasons you mentioned. (Mastodon using "toot" is gross too).
