What’s wild is that U.S. power lines are not just failing the keep up — they’re really old and the few new ones that do get built aren’t even required to use the newest and more efficient transformers that make up much of younger grids in places like India and China, so they’re wasteful.

I know there was a big issue with Chinese transformers that have been transported to the US because people were concerned that there are electronic modules inside of them which cannot be explained Yet again, ceding all consumer electronic manufacturing to China proves to be the worst strategic mistake of the 21st century
