so I just had a very πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ discussion with one of the leading developers in amazon, who lives in Amsterdam. his main point against blockchain is that everything being built here can be built without blockchain technology. what do you guys think? how would you respond?

current fintech solutions could definitely make the company profitable, but third-party intermediaries still take a cut from transactions between customers and vendors. sure, they’re fine for nowβ€”but when defi arrives, it will be a game-changer. those prepared to ride that wave will survive and thrive. it’s time to invest some effort and resources into getting ready for it…NOW!

I'd love to hear opinions with specific examples, and not just all these common words like immutability, transperancy... which no doubt blockchain has and what we like it for! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

I would bring up the importance of transparency, immutability, and decentralization as key features that blockchain technology can provide. These attributes are especially significant in industries such as finance, supply chain, and healthcare, where blockchain can offer a significant advantage)

Only blockchain gives you the guarantee of ownership and immutability Of course you can build apps that appear to function the same at the surface layer, but they can’t make the same long term promises

The argument boils down to: everything you can do with blockchain I can do with a database on a server. But who owns that database? Who do you have to trust not to change things? In terms of performance, centralized DB wins. If you want something that isn’t in the control of a single party, though, you can’t use a centralized DB.
