so I just had a very 🔥🔥🔥 discussion with one of the leading developers in amazon, who lives in Amsterdam. 

his main point against blockchain is that everything being built here can be built without blockchain technology. 

what do you guys think? how would you respond?

The argument boils down to: everything you can do with blockchain I can do with a database on a server.

But who owns that database?  Who do you have to trust not to change things?

In terms of performance, centralized DB wins.  If you want something that isn’t in the control of a single party, though, you can’t use a centralized DB.
