Where should we be casting? 

Home? Personal channel? Niche channels?

I try to choose channels mostly because people can’t get spam labels if they interact with me there. 

If I cast to my home feed and I don’t see their reply because they have a spam label (aka I don’t get notification) the spam also assumes I ignored it because it’s spammy and then that reinforces their spam label.

according to dwr the reach for casts on your home is the same as casts on any channel. If it doesn't fit in any channel just cast to home.

I try to experiment with niche channels so I can potentially get different perspectives, new people to follow.

Engagement isn't always as high but I think it stays true to the ethos of the platform?

choose by interest. then try to diversify b/w small & large channels within your interests.

I think in channels it's easier to fit in and create connections

If I see my content not related to any channel, absolutely i select home

How to improve your leaderboard ranking

1. Choose a niche to a top 1% caster on Farcaster today and try to have one extra thoughtful cast a day (like a mini blog post)

2. More generally, cast *a lot* (many times a day); doesn't need to be about the above niche

3. Use catchy, brief titles, see @balajis

4. Make your casts text-heavy

5. Write text in short paragraphs (2-3 lines max); avoid wall of text

6. Include one embed only (link/image/video)

7. Engage: Reply to comments

8. Direct message followers your most important posts

9. Create niche-focused group chats and post links to your casts to help kickstart engagement

Always try to find a thematically matching channel, if that doesn’t work I use home. Don’t think personal channels have that much impact, but they create a good personal archive.
