Looking for recommendations for self-hosting a vpn at home so that when traveling (and using Airbnb wifi) I can send all my traffic back home. I’m not concerned about my ISP spying, I don’t have any work geo restrictions, I just have some discomfort about using semi-public/secured wifi networks where potentially hundreds of people have access to the router. If this is unwarranted, I’m also interested to understand why. I typically use a gl.inet router when traveling. I have Tailscale set up to access my network files while abroad, but when I use it as an exit node it crawls…which is why I’ve opted to use Mullvad to encrypt my traffic back to their servers. This works fine, but honestly seems like overkill since I just want to bypass anyone on the semi-public router.
