A note on "permanent" spam labels If you ignore the warning and get the spam label, it won't be removed until you show a long period of good behavior. This maybe several weeks or months until we re-evalaute your account and you've posted enough so that we know you're not spammy. (we are still building this system so its effectively permanent for now)

hope that it starts light and gets progressively stricter only as the system gets better want to avoid a chilling effect where users are scared of interacting with larger accounts even if they're posting quality replies fwiw, I think about and write my replies to you and dan carefully, but don't expect (or receive) interaction most of the time. I'm not personally concerned about a spam label, but it would be sad for a new user to try and do something similar with {insert whatever popular user who's interesting but doesn't reply that often} and get marked. Might also want to consider if their replies generate sub-conversations that don't involve the original caster.

💯 Agree with this above. It's already demoralizing enough to feel ignored when you spend time making thoughtful and relevant replies that get no interaction. Even worse if you end up getting labeled as spam or the threat of that makes you just quit replying. If we really want FC to grow, attempts to make new relationships via conversation and interaction even when the majority of the time it fails needs to be encouraged to try again, not penalized because they couldn't break through the deprioritization algo for non-followers or the OP didn't have the bandwidth to engage.
