Why do we consume our feeds algorithmically but our chats chronologically?

The current chat UX treats all messages as if they’re the same level of importance or relevance even though they’re not, especially in larger groups

This leads to notification fatigue which in turn causes members to mute and check out

I think this is one of the biggest limitations of apps like TG and Discord esp as they’re increasingly used by growing communities

No one wants to clear notifications from a bunch siloed chats, just show me the most interesting discussions that I missed and encourage me to participate

Threads definitely make it easier to follow a conversation and I think the threaded nature of casts is a good place to start

Yeah, this makes 100% more sense, especially as a mobile first design, allowing for real time chatter to co-exist in the thread, as different people participate with topics/casts asynchronistically in groups.
