How to build interplanetary blockchains? - What happens when latency is in the order of minutes, hours between ? - How do you build consensus? - Do individual planets just have their own chain?

Might need to build on quantum entanglement to overcome the latency problem of distance.

Not a physicist or anything, but in Three-Body Problem, sophons were sent to earth to have "instant communication channel." Perhaps that can be used, and it's triggered whenever a chain updates - kind of like webhooks but intergalactic.

Before the how, I would ask the why. Of all the potential problems awaiting human civilization if we ever become an interplanetary species, why is having shared blockchains a concern at all? What problem do you envision these blockchains would solve?

The biggest hurdle above all is coordinating around the same time. Throw local frame of reference out the window, and coordinate via a mutually agreed VDF. That won’t fix the latency problem, but now you have provable sequencing. Given no matter how consistent the hardware, you also have relativity to contend with

barring some sort of ansible that communicates faster than light, you would have to have each planet be one chain

@perl There is a never-ending need for humanity - and perhaps others - to be continuously connected.

I personally believe that future tech will recognize and leverage consciousness as a core technology that is not constrained by traditional issues of distance and time. Interconnected Consciousness = future blockchain networks. The hermetica and the kaybalion allude to this.
