What is art? This is a question I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Why is important, and why do we care? I’m not a pessimist, like Rousseau: he talks about societies that develop the arts and sciences leads to corruption and moral degradation; when we can really just survive on the bare necessities, right?

Why do we feel the urge to express? To find ways to communicate ideas? Why don’t we run out of things to say And what about ways to say them? Who said that art has to be a certain way? Why do you care so much? Why not just not care?

nah, a number of people don't feel the urge to express, don't need find ways to communicate ideas, have nothing to say or no ways to say them, and say don't care but complain about art

Proof that you lived. Engaged with reality. Leveled up your awareness. Originality is important. Its extends the edges of collective human awareness instead of washing through the same ideas.

language, like math, is unbounded. all art (music, visual, verbal, written, performance) is some combination of math and language. art often describes or assigns abstract concepts like feelings, or how something literal made the artist feel. art is a mathematical or linguistic (definite) expression of abstract thought.

I don't care about contemporary art because the artist usually speaks more than the art 😅 I care about the message. The moment I "dive" in a masterpiece. The technique. The feeling of the colors. All of that, without a single word said. And the guy next to me can feel the same... or not. That's the beauty of art :)
