What is art?

This is a question I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Why is important, and why do we care? 

I’m not a pessimist, like Rousseau: he talks about societies that develop the arts and sciences leads to corruption and moral degradation; when we can really just survive on the bare necessities, right?

Why do we feel the urge to express? 
To find ways to communicate ideas? 
Why don’t we run out of things to say 
And what about ways to say them? 
Who said that art has to be a certain way?
Why do you care so much?
Why not just not care?

Proof that you lived.
Engaged with reality. 
Leveled up your awareness. 

Originality is important. Its extends the edges of collective human awareness instead of washing through the same ideas.
