When the historical past can be used to tell a story to sway the present into a potential future Then every historical document is modern to begin with. Because at any point in time (especially to support whatever ideology the current regime has in place) it can be used to back up the present

I was noticing how cyclical this can all be (meaning you can always find a doc that supports your current worldview) Some of the books from when I was a kid that I’m reading to my kids feel right at home in the current political climate.
