If you're into this, I think you'd really enjoy Robert Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. He tells a pseudo-biographical story of his experience with a psychotic breakdown as it relates to reality outside of / before the mythos (i.e. consciously aware myth). It's a wild and resonant trip.
