i think it used to be easier to imagine that
and it's a cultural problem that we can't get behind that

i vividly remember being excited about the future when i was a kid. about how things would be different and more cool. 

but no one has that feeling anymore

I am uncontrollably excited about the future. Straight up boundless child like wonder

It’s great you can maintain this. Probably a sign of mental health. I find it’s harder to tap into the longer I live. Wonder is more vivid if we immerse in it. Fear and anxiety habits distract from wonder.

I feel like it started when I was a child, peaked in my 10s declined into my 20s and in my 30s has come roaring back

You’re right, it comes in waves. There’s hope for me! And maybe I can cultivate it better.

I’ve always admired my dad’s high-wonder. Almost 80 now, still excited to learn and experience everything. He’s recently nerding out on HAM radio and strung a big antenna between redwoods in his backyard.
