I love that dialects of different languages are untranslatable unless you learn the language I love this fact almost unreasonably

It’s almost like the culture, the times, the history carved its mark on the language so much so that it made it exactly the way it is. In many ways, the only way to translate it is to live the culture and the history, explanation alone does not fully suffice

This is beautiful. Great observation. The evolution of languages is one of my favorite things to study at like 3am.

when living as a nomad in europe across a bunch of countries last few yrs, i always wondered how much of the “feeling” in words i was missing when they spoke into google translate also found it interesting that sometimes there would be three similar english words that all translate to the same word in the other language

yup even small country (in size) like Korea..they have may dialects and i like it!
