Why have subscriptions (i.e., recurring payments) not taken off in web3?

Seems hypersubs of artists are now a thing. Subbing to alpha channels makes somewhat sense too.

But imo subscriptions in web2 are also not the preferred user choice (they are for b2c companies though) and have to offer a lot of value to be worth it.

B2B in web 2 is a no-brainer for SaaS.

Can you explain what a "hypersub" is? I'm out of the loop.

i guess we wait for the day we encounter ad-infested web3 space since that's usually the only compromise between having the user get free access and the platform still receiving an income
