`const data = useLoaderData<typeof loader>()` is pretty magical. Not having 10 lines of useState to start every component is awesome

All web frameworks are kinda moving in this direction. Rails has turbo frames which is pretty similar.

I basically quit using hooks and did all data fetching on the server after tasting a codebase without hooks.

loader and useLoaderData is prob the single most powerful demo for remix:
- backend devs like it cause it’s still js, libraries work, no rsc
- frontend gets way simpler with no loading, error, data states littered everywhere
- all single file

What about tanstack query? It’s goated, only thing better is not needing it all.

After building this app in Rails, I've zeroed in on my key point of frustration: I don't like single page apps. They become inherently cache orientated and create a lot of complexity with React.

Even with truly great libraries like react-query, caching and data loading eventually subsume your application.

For example, with react query-like libraries: they favor hooks for data loading to handle cach fetching and invalidation. So your app can become very hook focused.

For pure web apps it’s my fave.

They’re currently transitioning remix to become react-router-7 (same team, backward compat, plan for last couple years), I’d use remix.run till the dust settles, docs and libraries are still transitioning.

Thoughts on Tanstack Query? I feel like it really simplifies frontend loading and state management (error, loading, refetching, etc)

Neither, though I've written and contributed in solid a bit. It's fine.

Tanstack seemed a bit early last I checked in, thin docs. I'm sure its good, tanner has great sense for api design.

Solid felt like react but minimal eco, less training data. Even though I know its faster etc.

Curious if you’ve ever tried Solid Start or TanStack Start?

I cannot begin to describe my disdain for writing these fetches in hooks. Ugh
