When you hear the phrase "the Ethereum community", what institutions do you think of first?

(like: companies, organizations, groups, etc.)

I work for Ethereum at the Ethereum Foundation.

yeah, I see "the community" as an explicitly big-tent phrase that includes everything from core devs to new users. Just interested in what orgs specifically come to mind within that tent.

is there a phrase that *does* conjure up institutions, specifically? or maybe is more suggestive of institutions than individuals?

That phrase doesn't make me think of institutions at all, I think of users actively discussing Ethereum every day on Discord, Reddit, etc..

If forced to select institutions that would fall under that umbrella, the Ethereum Foundation, ETHGlobal, ETHStaker, Gitcoin, and Protocol Guild come to mind.

Ultra honesty - while I’m mostly an Ethereum tourist (though I’ve shipped to mainnet/etc) and literally the only thing I think about when I hear Ethereum community is ETH foundation. 

Then if I pause for a bit I go - “oh yea and developers too I guess”?”

Staking client teams, the stakers, the traders, the researchers, the app devs, the app users, the infra teams, the oracles teams, CEX teams, lobbying groups, educators, sycophants, scammers, NK, freedom fighters, saints, sinners, trump, modern eco movements, 

It’s everyone. It’s everything. But in degrees.

Ethereum conferences, Github projects, and emergent on-chain behaviour (mainly weird experiments that go viral or become important and reveal something fundamental about our reality).

I was using it as a shorthand for “stakeholders of Ethereum” but reading the replies it seems that people read that as a much more restricted set!

All core devs, the EF, Ethereum security Telegram, the daily gwei, bankless, consensys, ETH Global, ETH cat herders, build guild, Ethereum R&D discord, flashbots, gitcoin, farcaster, an intimate and unofficial social group with Vitalik at the center.

First thing comes to my mind is long time Eth holders
