Synced with the Ethereum documentary team today and we're still on track for finishing the film this year and a 2024 film festival premiere! Also we aren't 100% stuck on the doc name "Ethereum: The Infinite Garden" so open to any suggestions on titles / subtitles if you have a great one

counter point to @js and @trustlessstate: gardens are managed ecosystems that are bent to the will of the gardener. ethereum has no such master. "dark forest" is too... dark infinite forest?

definitely think there is something to the vision of Ethereum being an infinite garden that will grow into an infinite forest :)

maybe it already has? all the recent L2 scaling makes me think we're now well out of the garden phase but idk, you have a lot more context and knowledge than i do

not sure this is the kind of thing that has a single answer but: what "garden" suggests to me is not centralized control (after all - infinite!) but rather just the notion of humans nurturing and shaping an ecosystem around ourselves, into a form that serves human ends (many forests and parks have that quality, too)

hmmm interesting, i like that, i agree. there are good examples of grotesquely manicured forests, and wild and free gardens. its not a strict dichotomy, more of a spectrum. still, i prefer forest. it has a mystery and a magic to it that garden does not (imo). which feels more true to my experience building on ethereum
