Going with my brother in June and then heading to Bali with my wife afterwards. Would recommend d both! Vietnam at that time is rainy in the south and somewhat in the north, so we are doing Hanoi, Nimh Binh (also called “dry” Halong Bay) and then flying to Hoi An

Mai Chau, closest to Hanoi. Not too obscure, but you won’t find it in the usual top 10 lists.
