This is why the question framing matters. Where and who asks this question can flip the answers

a better multiple choice is "what don't you like about the channel changes?" the nos may have nothing in common in which case there's not a viable product solution

with only 4 possible replies, however, and probably only 3 or 4 characters displayed each (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit), the poll format lacks any depth to avoid much bias

yeah, the only real thing to interrogate here is whether a particular feature is actually confusing and needs to be fixed.. warpcast made a choice (that's a good thing!) and they need to see it out

Tbh I’m not at odds with the change, but I think there hasn’t been much on my timeline addressing who this change alienates I see it anecdotally, but it’s not my place to out anyone with their private thoughts on this

i think it likely alienates newcomers, as default members are people who have been casting in channels for a long time... but maybe that's a good thing? if someone really wants to be a channel member there are many *channels* to make that dream possible though it may be awkward to ask, it is also awkward to moderate and remove members

I think it's definitely a good thing. The new way may alienate *some* newcomers, just as the previous hashtag-based method alienated some newcomers. The previous hashtag-way also encouraged behavior not consistent with the main team's intentions of cozy corners. The new way encourages people to assimilate better into cozy corners. They're now encouraged to watch, learn, get to see how it's done FIRST and THEN dive in. I still think it comes down to "no-one has a right to cast in another user's channel" and the new way enforces this and the old way required way more work from the channel owner.
