had a chat about this recently (i think w @atlas) and there's a good argument that web3 is far from the final iteration of the internet and it's more like an interim period of rapid experimentation and exploration with tools and systems that are currently siloed or gatekept, e.g. app data and transfer of value

Yeah I like this take a lot. It’s not an actual end state but a massive incubation period. And with incubation, something eventually breaks out. But it can’t remain an insular experiment forever
