have a look at Terra Ignota series. it's is own thing and highly complex. SF written by a historian with very interesting views on governance structures. if you love it you will love it.

Have you read anything by Daniel Suarez? If not, would recommend Daemon (2 books), change agent, delta V. Also "there's no antimemetics division" is good.
