my thesis: tipping and social engagement tokens would reward creators. the reality: tipping and social engagement tokens are consistently and ruthlessly gamed by noise generating farmers who don’t give a fuck about the creator economy. and their bullshit drowns out the creators.

Is there a foolproof method of rewarding creators without it being gamed?

Nope - every system for anything anywhere will always be gamed. It’s just that crypto has a disproportionate number of people trying to game every project, and it’s impossible to sustain. The imbalance comes down to the users.

Agree, feel its more a crypto mindset issue than an issue with the tools people are building

I disagree. I think crypto makes it easy to farm anything with a flawed incentive. That's the whole point of crypto. It equals the playing field and gives everyone fair access to exploit things instead of just "those who know" or have privileged access. It makes it so flawed incentives *can* be easily exploited. The problem I see is people keep trying to reward engagement. That's the wrong incentive, and that's why it keeps getting farmed. Stop trying to reward engagement and suddenly there's a whole new world of value creation to incentivize. I'm not saying I have the solution, I'm just saying that the common thread keeps being "engagement" as the metric to look at.

This is what I think too, every incentives can be gamed, it's even happening on X right now. The problem comes down to the sustainability that's why it's been difficult to see a successful tipping token.
