They told me MBAs weren’t useful but nobody knows I’m ~50% done with an MBA and every class I took this semester ended up being directly relevant to work I did this week

the big reason why people in tech are anti-MBA is because they believe you can learn more by doing things on the job or as a founder since you’re already blazing your own trail, i’m curious: 1. why did you decide to do an MBA? 2. what classes have you enjoyed most? 3. do you feel connected to your MBA peers?

I think you *can* learn it all as a founder, but you’re probably going to take an inefficient path to most knowledge. 1. I didn’t feel like I had a solid business education nor did I have strong mentorship early in my career. I didn’t know what “great” looked like. 2. Marketing classes mostly — stuff directly relevant to work I’m doing that I can implement immediately. 3. Not at all, but I don’t really make an effort to. Not enough time in the day 😅

that makes sense - i agree that the founder path has many “inefficient” learnings but then again, maybe efficiency isn’t the right metric worth optimizing for when learning new things regardless, i’m glad you’re getting value out of it!
