I've been thinking a lot about the community's allergic reaction to last week's AMA.

Clearly, there was a culture clash. Robin came in with a negative tone and voiced complaints, which people don't like (hello mood affiliation). He also didn't genuflect to crypto to try and make us like him, although it would have been easy to do that.

And many people's responses were: ok boomer, go somewhere else.

But what if Robin just happens to be the only one to say what others are thinking? He is active on Twitter and has been blogging for nearly two decades, so it wasn't purely a technology issue.

What can we learn?

he had good points, many that I agree with (I don't see crypto as the key enabler of any of my ideas), but I think the larger outcry came once the cuckoldry piece came to light.

valid, but his terse style of writing certainly hasn't changed

who on earth is *not* disturbed by those topics? who is that audience?

sure, it's 14 years old, let's not cancel someone for the distant past 

but also, 14 years is plenty of time to grow some empathy and make up for mistakes

even Coop eventually figured out he should stop saying the N-word
