tbh, all this is fine, but it’s not a big enough mission for Base, imo. Base has all the tools to do world-changing, revolutionary stuff… coins and onchain social are great, but they shouldn’t be a focus if you really wanna bring the world onchain.

Remember the days when buying a cd and listening to it was kinda an event? Because CDs were 15-19 bucks you had to choose well, and while you saved for the next one you had time to listen to it, digest it, learn the lyrics, enjoy it….then came napster and we started downloading more albums than we could chew, I bet there are a couple hundred albums I download and never listened to them. When I started in Zora posts were 777 sparks (not called sparks though), and there were beautiful things in there. Then the prices changed to 111 sparks and people were not selling much anymore, and quality started to decline, because what’s the point on investing time on something that will give you less than a dollar…. Then came coins, which completely devaluated and diluted the value of posts…and your bid can start with one spark…

Can I ask a question, why do you think people buying coins are a net positive outcome for content? Bc ur operating off the assumption that traditional formats of displaying content, doesn't benefit the creator? Why would coining something change it? I'm at a loss.

Very interesting because some of the points you touched up on I had been thinking about. Coining will change the game for content creation. Actually giving artists, creators etc the ability to support themselves....but beyond that. With coined posts/casts people can receive a reward for merely co tributing to the app. Years ago I wrote about something called "Proof of Contribution" Where people were rewarded for posting content into a system. It would then go through a community vetting process for quality assurance purposes, tokens would then be distributed used to the OP. Wrote about it before discovering Farcaster or web3. After discovering FC, many things reminded me of the "Proof of Contribution" framework....I honestly believe that the web3 space AND ev a tually the whole internet will naturally evolve towards a type of Proof of Contribution model.
