@saymore about OAK. Why is a local currency better than getting everyone to use USDC?

TL;DR three big reasons

1. OAK works like a community bank where value derived from the actual money in circulation gets to be reinvested in the community
2. local currencies increase the "velocity of money," so every unit of currency does more circulation among local business before ejecting out

3. it serves as an open platform & schelling point for other builders to create powerful onchain tools for the city!

there's a really long history of study of community currencies that pre-dates crypto. people powered money gives a pretty great overview of it:
