Just had an old friend who I haven’t spoken to in years with an S call to ask if I could help him move. Jokes on him—I don’t even move myself anymore. Seriously, if you’re over 35 and you have to move, just hire movers. All your friends are too old and already hurt their back. But you know me, I can’t say no…

Wife tells me the same thing. At this point in your life, just hire movers. If they break something, they have insurance. If your buddies break something, you still have to buy them pizza and beer afterwards. 🤣

👀 Was a moving estimator for a few years. Movers don’t automatically include insurance to cover your stuff. You need to pay for additional insurance for full coverage. They have what’s called: valuation that too many people confuse for insurance. It’s mandatory coverage for up to 60 cents per pound, per item for moves within state lines or across up to 31 miles. Slightly more for long distance from what I remember. Meaning you’d get more money back for 40lbs of broken bricks than a brand new broken 37.2lb Mac Pro,… so it’s worth paying for additional insurance if it’ll cost you more than .60 per pound to replace everything. The valuation rate was set so long ago, .60 per pound fairly covered most household items at the time. Probably around 80-100 years ago.

Exactly. But I know times are tough and not everyone can afford it right now, so I’m helping.
