ACDE#207 Recap: A new testnet, Hoodi, is going live Monday to wrap up Pectra testing, if you need to test validator exits, be on the lookout for it! Everything else can be tested on Sepolia & Holesky. Pectra will be scheduled 30+ days after Hoodi forks successfully, pending infra and client testing. Fusaka planning will run in parallel, with a deadline of March 24 to propose EIPs, and a tentative date of April 10 for a scope freeze 🫡 Full recap is up on EthMagicians: https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/all-core-devs-execution-acde-207/23020

Reminder: there's also plenty of people who have lost huge amounts of crypto to *loss* rather than theft. Software bug, forgotten password, lost device, paper wallet burned down in LA fire, upgraded device without backing up data .... lots of ways for that to happen. Because there's no attacker to go after, victims don't have a strong need to talk about it. And often because they see no one to blame but themselves, victims will be too ashamed to talk about it. But it happens. Often. And the truly robust wallet security solutions that our ecosystem needs to build should take loss into account too. (This is a big part of why I talk about social recovery so much!)

This is a solid demonstration of Railgun's privacy pools mechanism working in practice, allowing Railgun to avoid serving proceeds of crime without using any snooping / backdoors. How it works: * Anyone can deposit into Railgun. * After you deposit, there is a 1 hour period during which various algorithms detect whether or not the deposit likely came from what the algorithms consider to be criminal activity. * If your deposit passes the filter, then after 1 hour you can use ZKPs to withdraw privately (but ideally wait longer to get a good-enough anonymity set). * If your deposit fails the filter, then you can only withdraw back to your own address. There is no risk that your funds will get frozen/seized, you just can't benefit from the privacy pool. If you disagree with Railgun's filters, anyone is free to fork and make their own pool with their own rules, though if you can't get reasonably wide public support you're going to have a tiny anonymity set. https://x.com/officer_cia/status/1889642583971733983

Started the cleanup of @ipfs ipld/unixfs to move from a barely maintained protobufjs to protobuf-es and I almost got it done but I bumped into a few problems if anyone has experience with protobufs, pls ping me here, I only have 12 tests failing (all others pass) 🙏 https://github.com/ipld/js-unixfs/pull/60
