Playing around with “BasePaint for Music” Do you think people could create an interesting song or set together?

What if... the set up was as follows: 1. create a 30-second song each day 2. a predetermined motif/theme/vibe (audio) provided 3. a daw-like view of all the available instruments/sounds to program 4. click into each track to see its sequencer; can add more features as you go (plugins, mixing, etc.)

This is super cool, but you’d need a way to penalize griefers

Hmmm... maybe? The constraints of having a step sequencer and a limited palette of sounds be your only interface might be interesting. Having the ability to extend the sound palette (i.e. with a wavetable oscillator or similar) could help prevent things from getting repetitive.

worth looking at how Avicii made "X You". https://dancingastronaut.com/2013/02/avicii-officially-releases-collaboration-with-fan-submissions/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpKyzSxVhk4
