Pulled this garlic a little early I think. I planted cloves last fall and let them go all winter. First time doing garlic, anyone have any tips for next time to get them to be proper bulbs? The underground veggies are my next endeavor, I struggle when I canβt see them!

Depends where your growing and at what latitude. Most garlic wonβt be ready to dig until late June or July. Hardneck garlic will send up a curly scape (flower bulbils) about 4-5 weeks before maturity. The scapes can be removed and enjoyed, then plant has more energy to size up the bulb. Most of the sizing β¦

β¦ the sizing of the final bulb happens in the last 6 weeks. Pull too early and youβll get much smaller bulbs. Spacing - minimum 6β each direction between cloves when planting. More if your soil fertility is lacking. Nitrogen and Potassium required for optimum yields. Garlic is a βheavyβ feeder. Good luck
