Republicans fueled wedge issues within the culture war to give themselves a platform. And yet the dems are the ones taking the losses - this is why civics is important: becoming an informed electorate is part of the job as an American, IMO. And that extends beyond the self interests

I disagree that they were treated as life or death maybe by some and by msm but I don’t think it was what the majority cared about. It was always a distraction

I am seeing a variety of left leaning people make this argument. 

I think it will come off as disingenuous to say that the culture war stuff doesn’t matter now when these issues were treated as life or death for the last ~15 years

Culture war BS is just brutal. So many people bogged down.
