When @icetoad.eth says America was thriving under 90% marginal tax rates for the top earners he fails to mention that the top earners actual effective tax rate was 30-40% in the 1950s because of various loopholes, deductions, and exemptions that existed back then. People love to share that 90% marginal tax rate statistic without the context of the actual effective tax rate.

Holy fuck we (lowest income earners) would only be paying 1.5-4% tax rate vs the mfing 10%-25% we do now! AND THATS JUST INCOME TAX! Doesnβt include sales and property taxes holy shit the burden has so obviously been shifted to our proletarian shouldersβ¦
