How about 1940s-60s when the USA was thriving and the top marginal tax rate was 90%+?

Holy fuck we (lowest income earners) would only be paying 1.5-4% tax rate vs the mfing 10%-25% we do now! 

AND THATS JUST INCOME TAX! Doesn’t include sales and property taxes holy shit the burden has so obviously been shifted to our proletarian shoulders…
