The /politics team has noticed an increase in spam posts in our channel recently. We want to ensure that our space remains a place for rational debates and discussions, but we also understand the concern with potentially limiting free speech, prioritizing voices that we align with, or making the channel biased. We value your input and would like to know your thoughts on whether we should appoint moderators to help manage this channel. https://frame.weponder.io/api/polls/5559

As long as the rules are transparent and applied equally I don’t see an issue with moderation :)

Can you share a few examples of what you & the team considered spam? That would be helpful to understand where the moderation line stands, and make a call on this.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with moderating posts. As long as its purpose is to eliminate spam, it would likely serve the channel well now and in the long run

Should moderate. I tried auto mod on my channel the problem is they some times have outages & channel will go on w/ no new content in feeds for like half a day which kinda kills engagement. So I’m on manual now (granted, mine is a smaller channel)

I don’t see how you can win this. Either allow spam and trolls or be willing to be seen as the heavy in favor of protecting the discourse. I’d vote for the latter. Take an active role in creating the space you want. Then the rest of us can decide if that space is for us. If I wanted the former, I’d be on the other site.

Is this what we're doing here? We're rediscovering moderation? Pretty cursed, boys. Pretty cursed.
