ITAP of a singular moment in time… a bench collapse at the end of 2016 severed this lava tube and it began dumping millions of gallons of lava into the ocean, with explosive results.

Definitely get a sulfur (rotten egg) smell around volcanoes, and there can be some nasty gasses in the air, so you have to be careful out there. I always go with a local guide.
