Did Napster free music or endanger the industry? What are your thoughts? This article is a good read and dives right into this question. https://www.techopedia.com/napsters-25th-anniversary-did-it-free-music-or-endanger-the-industry

It exposed me to so many bands and DJs that I otherwise would have never heard.

Well i think it could have been better situation if artsits n labels could have adopted accordingly, Look at it now, music is almost free now, no one wants to pay for a music, But if u see people do pay for concerts, here in india musician hardly mint money ,most of thier earnings are from live shows.

Napster & the Pirate Bay were a blessing in disguise for the average artist, As was the internet as a whole. Piirated music and freemium models are forcing innovation in the industry. Rather than gatekeeping by music companies, there's a more even playing field for independent artists to thrive

Napster opened the doors to music discovery. The real problem is that record labels didn't adopt mp3s and the new tech quickly or appropriately.

I certainly did use Napster for some stuff but still bought albums more. Never really been into singles. I think tools like Napster democratised music too much and this has been happening across many creative endeavours, including photography for example stock photos are much like songs in that sense.
