"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall," said Jordan. "And I guess it always will, no matter how old we get. It's a way of clearing out the old and making room for something new." — F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby It's interesting that autumn feels like a new beginning — ideas and energy for new projects. Something like a fresh start in the last third of the year. At least for me.

Being from Wisconsin I constantly rail against the cold-- but when the chill first appears in the fall I can't say I don't look forward to the leaves turning. Or sitting around a campfire. The air somehow smells cleaner. And I can't forget indulging in a pumpkin pie, which surely exist at other times of the year, but also surely taste better in the fall.
