A "mint" for something you don't actually think is valuable, or will ever be valuable, is really just a "tip". It's supporting the creator -- a dollar in the hat. But in crypto, "tips" come with "karma", because your tip may qualify you for something of value in the future. A tip in the hat doesn't do that.

I should clarify. Tipping IRL may come with karma as well. It's just not as easy to measure. Because it's not a quantifiable representation of karma. It's the real thing (if karma is real).
