/design channel I would genuinely appreciate your feedback on the UX at basecolors.com I have never formally done anything in design -- no schooling, work, or explicit/intentional learning of any kind, but I do have some self-developed design principles and a strong sense for what I like. Lmk what you think.

Besides aesthetics, there are 2 big things to address - picker and swatch don't need to be so big (swatch can be much smaller) - there's a lot of empty space on the page: I would use it to display the latest / highest FP colours bought

Appreciate the feedback! Rationale for the way things are: everything is small on mobile by default. The color picker contains millions of colors. To maximize user ability to select as easily and specifically as possible, the size of the color picker must be maximized (so with a small margin on the sides, it is). I agree the swatch (or “preview”) could be a lot smaller, and that that could potentially be better. If I were to decrease it from full width, I would make it so the full square (including bottom edge) is visible when user is at the top of the screen on mobile. I think that would look clean, but I would need to make optimal use of the space that would be left on one or both sides of it depending on whether it is centered or right or left aligned. I will likely keep it for now as I don’t think it moves the needle on anything and I’m not sure yet how best I would use that space without forcing something. In regards to empty space, I don’t feel like there is much of any, can you clarify?

Oh I just realized you must be referring to the empty space on web. Yes, it is mobile optimized and I have not paid any attention to web other than making sure it works. May or may not change in future. Continuing to optimize for mobile for now.
