I think we’ll see a bifurcation of society in this way: some will continue to be perpetually plugged in, while others will minimize connected phone time I think it’s all about intent, which is often something lacking when it comes to phone use - a result of the addicting software we’re exposed to constantly

"all about intent" is dead on. it seems to me that intentional action naturally arises in the absence of a default for one's unoccupied attention (aka the phone)

Indeed. One “hack” I use is to have nothing particularly addictive for me on the homepage of my phone. Everything in that category has to be in a folder a couple pages back.

Yes exactly! To me this is “mindfulness”, the natural opposite of mindlessness. Everyone operating in fight or flight defaults to a reactive, mindless state (lacking intent) And for sure, this is a big element of what made atomic habits popular imo, the relationship between environmental stimuli (or lack thereof) and habit formation that arises based on the structure established in the environment
